Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
1. Who We Are
plotwrite.ink is an AI-assisted writing tool for web serial and fiction authors. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@plotwrite.ink.
2. What Data We Collect
- •Email address — for account creation and transactional emails
- •Encrypted API keys — stored encrypted (AES-256), never logged, never shared with third parties
- •Story content (chapters, story atoms, brainstorm sessions) — stored securely, never used for AI training
- •AI usage records (model, token counts, estimated cost) — linked to your account so we can show your AI spend
- •Sign-up source — the referrer, first landing page and campaign (UTM) tags from your first visit, saved to your account when you sign up
- •Sign-up network — a salted hash of the network you sign up from (never the raw IP address) and your browser's user agent, used to spot many accounts created from one network
- •Site statistics — cookieless page views and a few product events (see section 7)
3. What We Do NOT Do
- •We never sell your data
- •We never use your story content to train AI models
- •We never share your API keys with any third party
- •We never read your story content unless you explicitly request support
4. How We Use Your Data
- •To provide the plotwrite.ink service
- •To send transactional emails (verification, payment receipts, trial reminders)
- •To show you your AI usage and estimated spend
- •To improve the product and understand where sign-ups come from
- •To keep the service safe from abuse, such as mass sign-ups
5. Data Storage
All data is stored in secure, managed cloud infrastructure. Story content is encrypted at rest. API keys are encrypted before storage using AES-256 encryption.
6. Your Rights
- •Export your chapters at any time from the editor; story bible exports and full project backups are part of the Architect plan
- •Delete your account and all associated data with Settings → Profile → Delete my account, or by emailing support@plotwrite.ink from your account email
- •We will confirm deletion within 48 hours of your request
7. Cookies & Tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication. We also load the Meta (Facebook) advertising pixel for retargeting, but only after you accept it via our consent banner. You can decline and the site will work exactly the same. Your consent choice is stored locally in your browser and you can clear it at any time via your browser settings.
Our own site statistics are first-party and cookieless: they run on our servers, set no cookies and use no third-party analytics service. For each page view we record the page (with ids removed), the referring website's domain, campaign (UTM) tags, a device type (desktop, mobile or tablet) and a country. We also record a few product events, such as starting sign-up, creating a story or connecting an AI provider; while you are signed in these are linked to your account. To count visitors without identifying them, we combine your IP address and browser user agent with a secret value that changes every day and keep only the resulting hash, so we can't recognise you from one day to the next. We never store your IP address or full user agent. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent. These records are deleted after 400 days.
8. Third-Party Services
- •Cloud database and authentication provider — for secure data storage and user authentication
- •Transactional email provider — for sending account-related emails only
- •Razorpay — for payment processing (we never store card details)
- •Your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral, Together, Perplexity, DeepSeek, xAI or a custom endpoint you set) — our server decrypts your key and sends it with each request you make to that provider, together with the story text the request needs; we act only as a pass-through. If you use LM Studio, requests go from your browser to your own machine instead
9. Changes to This Policy
We will email you if we make material changes to this policy. Continued use of plotwrite.ink after changes constitutes acceptance.
