Your story stays yours

PlotWrite reads your chapters so it can remember your story. Here is what happens to them, in plain words. Every point matches our privacy policy.

Your chapters never train AI models

PlotWrite doesn't train AI models on your story, and doesn't give your story to anyone else to train one. We don't sell your data, and we don't read your story unless you ask us for support.

When you use AI in PlotWrite, the request goes to the AI you connected, on your own account, with the part of your story that request needs. What happens next is up to that provider's policy:

    • OpenAI API key:
"data sent to the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI models (unless you explicitly opt in to share data with us)."
OpenAI: your data(opens in a new tab)
    • Anthropic API key:
"By default, we will not use your inputs or outputs from our commercial products (e.g. Claude for Work, Anthropic API, Claude Gov, etc.) to train our models."
Anthropic: is my data used for training?(opens in a new tab)
    • OpenRouter: it sends requests on to many model providers, each with its own policy. OpenRouter says:
"If you opt out of training in your account settings, OpenRouter will not route to providers that train."
OpenRouter: privacy and logging(opens in a new tab)
    • ChatGPT or Claude apps (the PlotWrite connector): your chat app's own data settings apply, the same as any other chat. Check its privacy or training setting in the app.
    • LM Studio: the model runs on your own computer, and requests go straight from your browser to it.

    Your AI keys are locked

Keys you save are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they're stored. The encryption key lives only on our server, never in your browser.

Your browser can't read a saved key back: the app only ever shows its last four characters. Our server decrypts it only to send your own requests to your provider. Keys are never logged and never shared.

    Where your story is stored

Your account, stories and chapters are stored in a managed Postgres database from Supabase, in the AWS us-east-1 region (North Virginia, USA), and encrypted at rest.

Payments go through Razorpay. We never see or store your card details.

    Take your story with you

Download any chapter as plain text (.txt) or Markdown (.md) from the editor. That's free on every plan, and it keeps working after a trial ends.

A full backup file of a story (its chapters, story bible and Style DNA) and story bible exports are part of the paid plans.

    Delete your account and data

Go to Settings, then Profile, then Delete my account. We delete your account and everything in it (stories, chapters, story brain and saved AI keys) and confirm by email within 48 hours.

You can also email support@plotwrite.ink from your account email.

    PlotWrite never publishes anything

PlotWrite has no connection to Royal Road, Patreon, Amazon KDP or any other site. It never posts, uploads or shares a chapter. Nothing leaves PlotWrite unless you copy or download it yourself.

Inside PlotWrite, AI doesn't change your chapter on its own: suggestions and drafts wait until you accept them. The one exception is an Auto-write run where you choose to accept its drafts automatically.
